Vintage 36-82mm T3.1 parfocal zoom with bold flares, unique bokeh, and modern full-frame mechanics.
Place an OrderAs part of an ongoing commitment to delivering authentic vintage cinema zoom lenses, this beautifully rehoused 36-82mm T3.1 offers a rare opportunity to work with one of the earliest zooms ever made for commercial still photography in the 135 format (Full Frame 36x24mm). Originally released in 1959, it was a groundbreaking design for its time—and it still produces striking, character-rich images today.
Parfocal by design, the lens maintains sharpness at the center with graceful fall-off toward the edges. It exhibits impressively low chromatic aberration and minimal focus breathing, while its single-layer coatings lend a lower-contrast look with bold, expressive flares. The bokeh has a distinctly vintage texture, making it an ideal companion for classic optics such as the TLS Canon Rangefinders.
Mechanically refined, it now features internal focus and zoom, a standard 136mm front, and an expanded 330-degree focus rotation—shortened from 4'6" to a close 2'9"—all while preserving full-frame coverage. A newly added 15-blade matte-finished iris ensures smooth, circular bokeh when stopped down, completing a lens that beautifully balances heritage and performance.
